History & design
The Yamaha n12 (2007) is a “Digital Mixing Studio” designed with Steinberg to become one with Cubase. It combines 8 mic preamps (XLR, +48 V), 8 mono line inputs and 2 stereo line inputs, with dual FireWire connectivity to record up to 16 simultaneous signals to the computer. Digital processing runs at 44.1 to 96 kHz, 16- or 24-bit.
Every channel has preset Sweet Spot Morphing compression, a 3-band musical EQ and access to Rev-X reverb. The console provides 5.1 surround monitoring from the DAW, carries MIDI I/O and ships with Cubase AI4. The n8 is its 8-channel variant. It is a console/interface hybrid aimed at the home studio and small production.
