History & design
Introduced in 2007, the Yamaha LS9 was born from the fusion of M7CL concepts and Yamaha's digital know-how, aimed at the club and 'live house' market. It comes in two formats: the LS9-16 (16 mic/line inputs, 32 channels, 17 faders, 8 Omni outputs, one Mini-YGDAI slot) and the LS9-32 (32 mic/line inputs, 64 channels, 33 faders, 16 Omni outputs, two slots).
Both models offer 16 MIX buses, 8 MATRIX buses, stereo and mono buses with LCR mode, and eight virtual racks for graphic EQs and effects. Expansion is via Mini-YGDAI cards (16 I/O channels each: ADAT, AES/EBU, TASCAM, MADI, CobraNet or Dante depending on the card). A stereo recorder/player to USB memory is built in.
Remote control is provided by LS9 Editor (Studio Manager, Windows/Mac) and the StageMix iPad app, which lets you set monitor mixes from the stage.
