History & design
Shown at NAB and then IBC 2019, the Strata 32 is Wheatstone's compact IP console. In a 40-inch frame it offers 64 channels: 32 physical faders switch between two layers, with added dedicated faders for eight subgroups, eight VCA groups and two masters.
A touchscreen centralizes EQ, dynamics, talkback, mix-minus, bus matrices and source/destination management; per-channel OLED displays recall the active functions. The processing core is an IP mix engine (Gibraltar IP Mix Engine, credited with 1,024 channels of simultaneous processing; some sources mention a Blade-4 TVE Mix Engine).
The Strata 32 belongs to the AES67-compatible WheatNet-IP ecosystem: all I/O runs over the network, with no fixed connection points on the chassis, and any channel can reach any source or destination in HD/SDI, AES, MADI, AoIP, analog or TDM. The optional 4RU StageBox One adds 32 mic/line inputs, 16 analog line outputs and 8 AES3 inputs and 8 outputs. The console is made in the USA, in New Bern, North Carolina.
