History & design
The LX-24 is a low-profile broadcast console from Wheatstone, built for the WheatNet-IP audio-over-IP ecosystem. Its tabletop surface is modular: fader modules swap out hot, without powering down the console, and the pan beneath the modules holds no electronics, which simplifies maintenance and lets a failed module's audio be reassigned.
Each fader reaches four stereo program busses, four pre-fader AUX sends, a stereo CUE bus and four mix-minuses. It carries an LED source-name display, an A/B source selector and two programmable buttons; the master section adds twelve programmable buttons. The meterbridge holds up to four high-resolution LED meter sets. The console has built-in CUE speakers, a class-D headphone amplifier and two independent studio monitor outputs.
The mixing core is an IP88E Mix Engine, a BLADE that can sit anywhere on the network; more BLADEs add inputs and outputs in various digital and analog formats. BLADE-3 units handle AES/EBU, AoIP, MADI, SDI and AES67, each with two 8×2 utility mixers and twelve universal GPI/O ports. The LX-24 is made in the USA, in New Bern, North Carolina.
