History & design
Introduced in 2012, the GLD-80 is the top model of Allen & Heath's GLD series. It offers 48 input processing channels, 20 mix channels, 30 configurable buses and 8 stereo FX engines. The surface carries 20 motorised faders across four layers (80 strips) and an analogue-style channel-processing section complemented by an 8.4-inch touchscreen.
Local I/O includes 4 mic/line XLR inputs, 4 XLR line outputs, RCA connectors and SPDIF and AES3 digital outputs. The system expands to 44 mics via AudioRacks linked over dSNAKE on Cat5 cable. An option-card slot (Dante, MADI, EtherSound, ACE, shared with iLive) enables FOH/monitor splits, multitrack recording and links to iLive systems. The GLD-80 also records a stereo pair to a USB stick. A "Chrome Edition" refreshed the range before the SQ and dLive arrived.
