Our take
History & design
The dLive S3000 is the most compact S-Class surface for Allen & Heath's dLive system, launched in 2014. Like the other surfaces in the range, it performs no processing: mixing is handled by the MixRack (DM32, DM48 or DM64) and its FPGA-based XCVI core, driven over a gigaACE link.
The system offers up to 128 input channels and 64 mix buses at 96 kHz, with a stated latency of 0.7 ms. The S3000 has 20 motorised faders assignable across six layers (180 control strips), a single 12-inch capacitive touchscreen running the Harmony UI, assignable SoftKeys and three pages of six rotary encoders per screen. Dedicated 'wedge' and 'IEM' fader strips ease monitor work from the surface. The surface offers optional I/O ports and a hot-swap redundant power supply.
Network connectivity (Dante, Waves SoundGrid, MADI, ACE, fibreACE) is carried by the MixRack. Remote control is handled through the dLive MixPad and OneMix apps and the dLive Director software.
