Our take
History & design
The GLD-112 is a live digital mixing console by Allen & Heath released in 2013. An enlarged version of the GLD-80, it adds a bank of eight control strips, bringing the surface to 28 fader strips across four layers. Its GLD engine provides 48 input processing channels, 20 mix channels, 30 configurable buses and 8 stereo RackExtra FX processors. The surface combines an analogue-style physical processing strip (preamp, HPF, gate, parametric EQ, compressor) with an 8.4" touchscreen offering a customisable drag-and-drop layout. Local I/O includes 4 XLR mic/line inputs, 4 XLR outputs, RCA connectors and S/PDIF and AES3 digital outputs; most cabling, however, is done remotely via dSNAKE (Cat5, up to 120 m) and the brand's AudioRacks. An I/O port accepts a network option card (Dante, Waves SoundGrid, MADI, EtherSound or ACE). Conversion runs at 48 kHz / 24-bit.
