History & design
The Allen & Heath Avantis is a standalone digital mixing console launched in 2020, built around the 96 kHz XCVI FPGA core from the dLive range, with 0.7 ms latency. It processes 64 input channels into 42 configurable buses (expandable to 96 channels and 56 buses), with 400 soft-patchable system inputs/outputs.
The surface has 24 motorized faders across 6 layers (144 strips), 24 assignable SoftKeys and, notably, two 15.6-inch Full HD capacitive touchscreens. Local I/O provides 12 XLR inputs and 12 XLR outputs, one stereo AES input and two stereo AES outputs, and two option ports each carrying 128x128 channels at 96 kHz (Dante, MADI, gigaACE, Waves cards). Processing includes 12 RackExtra FX slots and 16 DCAs; the dPack option adds dLive-class processing (16 Dyn8 engines, zero-latency DEEP compressors, an emulated Dual-Stage Valve preamp). The platform also comes as the Avantis Solo (single screen, 12 faders) and in 96-channel 2.0 / Ultra versions.
