History & design
The Allen & Heath SQ-6 is a compact digital mixing console launched in 2018, built around the XCVI FPGA core clocked at 96 kHz. It processes 48 input channels into 12 stereo mixes, the LR bus and PAFL, for 36 buses total. Local I/O includes 24 XLR mic preamps, two TRS stereo inputs, a 3.5mm input, 16 assignable outputs (14 XLR + 2 TRS) and an AES digital output.
The surface carries 24+1 motorized faders across 6 layers (144 assignable strips), a 7-inch colour touchscreen, 16 SoftKeys and 4 Soft Rotaries. Each channel offers trim, HPF, gate, parametric EQ and compressor; DEEP processing adds advanced amp and compressor models. Eight stereo FX engines draw on the RackFX suite. The SLink port connects AB, AR and DX stageboxes (up to 128x128 channels) and the option port takes a Dante or Waves card. SQ-Drive records 96 kHz multitrack straight to a USB drive.
