History & design
The DHD SX2 is a compact digital mixing console for radio and broadcast, introduced in 2018 by German manufacturer DHD. Designed as a price-optimised product, it targets on-air studios, audio workstations and smaller OB vans. The console is made of separate tabletop modules that chain together: a central module (52-5614) combining four faders with a monitoring, talkback and central-controls section, and fader modules (52-5620) of six channels each, for a total of 4 to 16 faders.
All faders are motorised (100 mm, dust-protected) and offer a second layer of up to 20 channels. Each module has a 10.1-inch multitouch display. The central module carries the main audio I/O — mic input, headphone output, direct loudspeaker connections, GPIO, D-sub and network — cutting cabling and rack space.
The SX2 runs the Series 52 firmware shared with the TX2 and RX2, and is configured with SX2Config, a simplified version of Toolbox. Its 40-bit floating-point DSP core handles 20 mono or stereo channels (3-band parametric EQ, subsonic filter, dynamics, limiter), 11 stereo PGM busses, six clean feeds and four monitoring busses. Extra features (faders, busses, clean feeds, loudness metering, profanity delay, Views and Assist apps) are enabled through license codes.
