History & design
The DHD DX2 is a desktop (tabletop) digital mixing system, introduced in 2020 by German manufacturer DHD. It is the most compact format in the range, designed for space-constrained places — video edit booths, commentary suites, radio OB vans and professional podcast studios.
The central module (52-1214) combines four faders with a monitoring and talkback section. All essential I/O is available directly on this module: a broadcast-quality XLR mic input, a 6.3 mm jack, left and right line outputs to feed active speakers, a 6.3 mm stereo headphone output and a 3.5 mm minijack port to insert audio directly from a smartphone. Fader modules (52-1220) each add six 100 mm dust-protected motorised faders with a configurable second layer. Both module types have a 7.8-inch multitouch screen whose interface is individually configurable (buss and channel meters, call and on-air signalling, clock, and more). The maximum number of faders depends on the connected DSP core.
A DX2 bundle brings together the central module, a 1U XS3 core (52-7500), a Multi I/O Box (52-1340A), a 48 V power supply and the simplified DX2config software. The system runs the Series 52 firmware shared with the SX2 and RX2.
