History & design
The CDC five is a digital mixing console introduced by Cadac in 2018 to mark the company's golden anniversary (Prolight + Sound). It is the most compact and affordable model in the touchscreen CDC range.
The surface pairs 16 motorised faders and dual banks of assignable buttons (40 total) with a single 23.5-inch touchscreen running the CDC 'swipe' gesture interface shared across the series. The engine runs at 24-bit / 96 kHz and offers up to 48 inputs and 24 assignable buses (plus LCR and monitors) in front-of-house mode, or 30 assignable buses in monitor mode.
The rear panel provides 16 analogue inputs, 8 analogue outputs, 8 digital I/O and an integrated 64×64 Waves card. Two MegaCOMMS ports — Cadac's proprietary audio network — allow the console to be expanded with remote interfaces and processors. The internal PSU can be backed up by an optional redundant external supply (PSU 4800).
