History & design
The Cadac CDC seven is the large-format model of British maker Cadac's CDC digital console range, shown at AES in Los Angeles in September 2016. It offers 96 fully-processed channels (gate, compressor, 6-band EQ per channel), 56 buses of which 48 are fully configurable, plus dedicated LCR, monitor and cue buses, all at 96 kHz / 24-bit.
The surface features 36 motorised faders, each with stereo metering and a user-definable colour OLED display, and two 23.5-inch 16:9 touchscreens. The console carries 16 onboard stereo effects and an integrated Waves SoundGrid 64 x 64 interface. Like the whole CDC range, it links to its stageboxes over the proprietary low-latency MegaCOMMS audio network.
The CDC seven sits at the top of the range alongside the CDC eight, above the more compact CDC six and CDC five/four; its show files are shared across the CDC range.
