The SSL Scenaria is an integrated digital audio post-production workstation launched by Solid State Logic in 1992. It combines, in a single system, a random-access multitrack recorder and digital editor (hard disk based), a fully automated digital mixer and a random-access video player. SSL presents it as the first system to bring all these functions together in an integrated fashion.
The Scenaria descends from ScreenSound, an 8-track audio-for-picture workstation launched in 1989 that pioneered non-linear audio locked to video, and from the SoundNet network (1990). Its film-oriented, multi-format surround big brother is OmniMix. Aimed at film and television post-production, the Scenaria was a mainstay of high-end 1990s facilities, and the technologies it pioneered were later scaled up to create SSL's A-series digital consoles.
