History & design
The Soundcraft Vi5000, introduced in 2015 alongside the Vi7000, is the medium-format version of the second-generation Vi series. It shares most of its bigger sibling's technology: mixing of up to 128 input channels to 32 mono/stereo buses, with an I/O system that can reach 384 points.
The more compact surface (1437 mm wide) uses the same Vistonics II touchscreens that set encoders and switches beneath the display, and the same FaderGlow faders coloured by function. Each section controls eight channels with immediate access to gain, filters, EQ, compressor, gate and de-esser.
Processing is identical to the Vi7000: 40-bit floating point at 96 kHz, eight Lexicon multi-FX units, BSS DPR901ii integration and a BSS graphic EQ on every bus. Same Local Rack, same Active Breakout Box and same ViSi Connect expansion (EtherSound, CobraNet, Dante, MADI).
