History & design
The KLOTZ Digital VADIS D.C.II is a digital mixing console for radio and television, fully modular and router-based, part of the VADIS system (Variable Audio Distribution and Interface System) from German maker KLOTZ Digital. Rather than a standalone console, it is a control surface attached to a networked digital-audio infrastructure: at its core the VADIS 880 engine/router accepts audio, data and DSP modules with no I/O limit and distributes audio over fibre between studios, control rooms and remote sites.
The base surface has 12 faders (24-fader configurations exist, with an optional 4-fader producer mini-console). VADIS interfaces handle analogue, digital and optical cards and high-capacity routing (up to 256x256). Designed for on-air and production alike, the D.C.II achieved wide commercial success in world broadcast, KLOTZ Digital announcing the sale of its 1000th unit to NPR in 2006.
