History & design
The InnovaSON Sy48 is a digital live-sound mixing console introduced around 2006, an intermediate variant of the Sy40 and the little sister of the Sy80. It offers 48 fully assignable motorised faders (inputs, SmartFade, aux, groups, masters, matrices, VCAs) and can mix up to 72 inputs into 40 buses in a compact chassis weighing under 40 kg.
True to the InnovaSON signature, it relies on digital audio transmission between stage and FOH: an EtherSound interface (64 I/O), an MC module with coax and fibre to connect a stage box, and a DioCore remote rack to extend I/O on stage. The typical local configuration is 48 inputs (32 mic, 16 line) and 32 outputs, expandable via 8-channel audio cards. The Sensoft operating system (version 9 at the time) added internal output processes, external bus inserts, input delay and a theatre-oriented Q/Page display. The Sy48 targets FOH and monitors, but also fixed installation: broadcast trucks, radio studios, theatres and houses of worship.
