Our take
History & design
The Eclipse is a digital live-sound console designed by the French manufacturer InnovaSON. It can take up to 320 inputs using five audio racks. Its surface has 48 faders and 48 rotary encoders, configurable across four pads. It integrates the M.A.R.S. (Multitrack Audio Recording System), a fully integrated 64-track recorder/player driven via a dedicated panel and touchscreen navigation — a rarity for a live console of its generation.
Born of a partnership between InnovaSON and Neumann, the Eclipse directly supports Neumann Solution-D digital microphones. Audio transport relies on InnovaSON's proprietary Muxipaire and on the EtherSound protocol. The console was later revised as the Eclipse GT, documented in 2011.
