History & design
The AMS Neve DFC Gemini (2003) is a major generation of the Digital Film Console, AMS Neve's large-format digital dubbing and film post-production desk. Launched in 1996 after a now-famous consultation with eleven Oscar-winning re-recording mixers, the DFC earned a Scientific and Technical Academy Award in 2000. The 2003 Gemini version introduced the XSP processing card, Encore Plus automation and TFT metering. A large-format, multi-operator console, it handles multi-format mixing (stereo, 5.1, SDDS, 6-stem surround) in 40-bit floating point at 48/96 kHz. It equips the world's premier post-production studios; its processing was later raised to over 1000 paths at 96 kHz with the USP card in 2007.
