History & design
The AMS Neve 88D (2005) is the digital version of the large 88R analogue console. It pairs Neve 1081R mic preamps with a high-resolution digital path: a DSP engine rated for 1000 tracks at 96 kHz, 40-bit floating-point processing, DXD mixing and gigabit-linked Super High Definition converters. The 88D keeps the 88R ergonomics (knob-per-function centre section, touch-sensitive illuminated logicators) and carries the classic Neve EQ and dynamics plug-ins, dedicated 8.1 surround monitoring and Encore Plus automation, integrating Pro Tools and Nuendo via HUI and Pyramix via Oasis. Built in very small numbers, it remains a rare item in the AMS Neve catalogue.
