History & design
The AEQ BC2000D is an infrastructure-grade digital audio router/mixer built by the Spanish manufacturer AEQ (Aplicaciones Electrónicas Quasar) for large radio and television production centres. Its architecture is based on a dual TDM bus (an input bus and an output bus) housed in the BC2000D frame, able to route, mix and distribute more than 1024 audio channels simultaneously. Plug-in DSP cards add processing capacity.
Connectivity relies on synchronous TDM access ports: up to 16 MADI circuits per frame (16 × 64 = 1024 channels) via the BC2211/BC2212 cards, or 1024 channels on a single HSAL BC2213 card. Several 1024-channel subsystems interconnect through the AEQ HSCS matrix to build systems reaching 5120 × 5120 crosspoints. Interconnection with studios and the central router uses MADI optical fibre, with Dante (AoIP) available for expansion.
The BC2000D is also the heart and engine of AEQ's OLYMPIA sports-commentary system, deployed by many rights-holding broadcasters at the world's largest sporting events.
