History & design
The AEQ Arena is a digital mixing console aimed at broadcast (radio and television), built on a core-based architecture. Processing and routing take place in a separate audio frame, the BC2000DF (4U, 19"), which holds up to 21 I/O cards and 20 DSP cards (minimum three), plus a BC2230 master controller module (embedded QNX system, configuration stored on CompactFlash). The cards provide analogue, AES/EBU (with independent sample-rate converters) and transformer mic/line I/O, with audio and GPIO exposed on RJ-45 connectors. The main control surface, the DM model, has five motorised faders and a comprehensive monitoring and GPI-triggering section; it can be expanded with up to seven ten-fader D10 surfaces, for a maximum of 75 physical faders. A 'pages' concept (nine per surface) allows control of up to 675 signals. Frame and surface interconnection uses MADI (BC2211 module, redundant BC2212) over 56 or 64 channels, and the console is listed in Audinate's Dante directory.
