History & design
The RIVAGE PM10 is Yamaha's live-sound flagship, previewed at InterBEE 2014 and released in 2015. It is a modular system in three blocks: the CS-R10 control surface, the DSP-R10 mixing engine and the RPio622 I/O rack, tied together by the proprietary TWINLANe digital audio network.
The DSP-R10 engine handles 144 input channels, 72 mix buses and 36 matrix buses at 24-bit/96 kHz. The CS-R10 surface lays out three banks of twelve motorised faders and large touchscreens with the 'Touch and Turn' knob, following Yamaha's familiar 'Selected Channel' approach. Preamps and processing include VCM modelling and the SILK circuit inspired by Rupert Neve Designs.
The TWINLANe network carries up to 400 channels at 96 kHz over optical fibre in a redundant ring: up to two DSP-R10 engines and eight RPio622/RPio222 racks can share a single loop. HY cards add Dante and MADI for interconnection and multitrack recording. The engine carries two redundant power supplies.
