Our take
History & design
Nuage is the advanced production system born from the collaboration between Yamaha and Steinberg. It is not a standalone mixing console but a hardware control surface that drives the Nuendo (or Cubase) DAW at the heart of the system. The whole is aimed at audio post-production, sound-to-picture and broadcast.
The surface is built from two modules: the Nuage Fader, with 16 channels each carrying two touch-sensitive Multi Function Knobs and designed to work with a 24-inch LCD monitor, and the Nuage Master, a master section for transport, monitoring and access to DAW functions. I/O is handled by DSP-equipped Nuage I/O interfaces connected over a Dante network; a PCI-Express Dante Accelerator card completes the setup for low-latency, high-capacity audio transport.
