History & design
The Yamaha QL5 is a compact digital mixing console launched in 2014, derived from the CL series. It processes 64 mono and 8 stereo channels into 16 mix buses, 8 matrices and an LCR bus. Local I/O provides 32 inputs and 16 outputs, supplemented by two built-in Dante ports of 64 channels each, with redundancy support.
The surface has 32 + 2 motorized faders, a Selected Channel section and a colour touchscreen with the Touch and Turn encoder. Processing includes Dan Dugan automixing, the VCM Premium Rack (Portico 5033/5043, U76, Opt-2A, EQ-1A…), an effects rack (SPX, REV-X) and GEQ/PEQ on every bus. A Mini-YGDAI slot accepts MADI, AES/EBU or ADAT cards. Preamps move out to Rio stageboxes (Rio3224-D, Rio1608-D…) over Dante.
