History & design
The KLANG:kontroller is a hardware control surface for KLANG immersive in-ear mixing processors (a processor is required to mix). Announced by KLANG:technologies in 2019, it delivers fast tactile control of channels, groups and immersive placement via eight push rotary encoders, each topped by a display showing the channel name, colour coding, status and metering.
The unit integrates binaural « TrueAmbient » microphones the musician can blend into their mix, a local stereo aux input (click, phone playback) that can be sent back to the Dante network and shared, and a studio-grade headphone amp with 3.5 mm (front) and 6.3 mm (rear) outputs. Connectivity includes two 2-channel Dante Ultimo ports, a Neutrik etherCON, two XLR line outputs and a USB port for updates and preset exchange. It runs on PoE (15 W) or its DC supply, at 48 or 96 kHz, and sits on a desk or mounts on a mic stand (1.1 kg). The engineer keeps overview of all mixes via the KLANG app or a DiGiCo SD/Quantum console.
