The Logic 3 (or L3) is the smallest member of AMS Neve's Logic series of all-digital consoles, designed for post-production, mix-to-picture and multimedia rooms short on space. It accepts up to 32 input sources (or 16 stereo) routed to 8 output busses, 4 stereo aux sends and a stereo or surround master output. Every path carries a 4-band parametric EQ, two-stage filters, a compressor, a limiter and an expander/gate. Like the whole Logic series, the L3 uses an assignable architecture: a pool of DSP resources the user allocates to physical controls through the Desk Designer software. The surface fits in a 9U 19-inch chassis built around a color TFT screen, sixteen backlit Logicator encoders and a bank of four assignable motorized faders. The DSP rack, which can sit remotely in a machine room, holds 16/20-bit A-to-D cards and AES/EBU, SDIF and MADI I/O. The system runs at 44.1 or 48 kHz (±10% varispeed) with 32-bit floating-point processing (double precision for EQ). The L3 integrates with the AudioFile hard-disk editor/recorder (8/16/24 tracks) and its automation stays compatible with the Logic 1 and 2.
