History & design
The Neve VR (V Series Recall) is the large in-line analogue console that succeeded the V Series in the late 1980s. It swapped the NECAM system for Martinsound's Flying Faders automation and added full recall via floppy disk. The VR and the Flying Faders system each won a TEC Award (1989 and 1990).
The VR Legend (1991) is a genuine production variant, recognisable by its oxygen-free signal cabling (blue sheath) and perforated rear panels for improved ventilation. Available in 36, 48, 60 or 72 channels, it offers Neve Formant Spectrum equalisation, in-channel dynamics with external sidechain, eight mono (or four stereo) auxiliaries and automation of insert and EQ in/out, channel cuts and A/B master mutes.
