History & design
The AMEK Galileo is a large-format analogue, digitally controlled console launched around 1994, sitting at the top of the AMEK range just before the Media 51 and the 9098 series. An in-line dual-path design (channel/monitor), it pairs a fully analogue signal path with computer-driven automation, routing and total recall through AMEK's in-house SUPERTRUE software, plus assignable Virtual Dynamics (per-channel compressor/gate with stored settings).
Every strip carries a Rupert Neve-designed mic preamp, a four-band parametric EQ with high- and low-pass filters, and extensive routing reached from the integrated patchbay. The Galileo shares its frame and modules with the Rembrandt: strips are interchangeable between the two, which is why many hybrid Rem/Gal frames exist. A multiformat Galileo 360V variant targeted post-production, film dubbing and broadcast with panning up to 5.1.
Pitched against the SSL 4000/8000 and Neve V of its day, the Galileo was built in small numbers; surviving examples are rare and often rebuilt from Rembrandt modules.
