Description
A high-end modular digital mixing system from AMEK, the DMS scales to 96 channels of 24-bit I/O and 32 buses, driven by the Channel Panel (48 encoders, 24 moving faders, 3 touchscreens). To me it's a late-90s post-production and broadcast digital platform: highly configurable, expensive, and built for large installs rather than the home studio.

The AMEK DMS (Digital Mixing System) is a fully modular digital mixing system offered in music and post-production versions. Each DMS was configured to order: up to 96 channels of 24-bit I/O and 32 buses with multiformat panning and monitoring. The surface centres on the 'Channel Panel', a dedicated control panel giving access to all channel parameters via 48 rotary encoders and 32 switches, alongside 24 moving faders and three high-resolution touchscreens. The software (version 3.3 by 1999) provides dynamic and snapshot automation with moving faders, a multi-user password and privilege system, and a pan/divergence editor. Positioned at the high end ($100,000 to $225,000 depending on configuration), the DMS found its main success in post-production and on-air broadcast; over 150 systems were installed worldwide by 1999.
