History & design
The Roland VM-3100 Pro is a compact 20-channel, 8-bus digital console at 24-bit resolution, released in 1999 as the V-Mixing Station. It takes the mixer section of the VS-1680 multitracker into a desktop format, with 12 faders (channels 1-8, 9-10, 11-12) plus master, a jog wheel and transport controls.
Analog connectivity includes two XLR mic inputs (phantom on channels 1-2), a high-impedance guitar input, line inputs and two stereo RCA pairs; digital I/O offers coaxial and optical S/PDIF, plus an R-BUS connector for expansion (optional DIF-AT card to ADAT/TDIF).
For processing, the VM-3100 Pro carries two stereo multi-effect processors (reverb, chorus, delay, guitar/vocal/keyboard multi-FX), two additional compressors and COSM technology with Mic Simulation and Speaker Modeling. Scene memory and MIDI mixer functions (MMC-compatible) round it out, driven from a backlit graphic display.
