History & design
The Roland DM-800 is a 1993 digital audio workstation (hardware DAW). It combines an 8-track hard-disk recorder offering 300 virtual tracks, a 12-channel digital mixer (eight dedicated faders with gain and pan, two stereo aux returns, one stereo master fader) and a 24-bit 2-band semi-parametric EQ automated on every channel. Recording is 16-bit linear, with selectable sampling at 48, 44.1 or 32 kHz. It offers non-destructive editing, time compression, a video display output, MIDI, plus an optional ADAT bus and RS-422 interface.
