History & design
The Roland M-380 is a 48-channel digital mixing console introduced in 2009 within Roland Systems Group's (RSS) V-Mixing system. It carries over the M-400 architecture in a more compact rackmount format and offers 18 buses, 8 matrices, 16 aux/monitor sends, 8 DCAs and 8 mute groups.
Processing includes channel and bus DSP, four stereo FX processors and four graphic EQs. Conversion is 24-bit with 56-bit internal processing at 48 kHz. The surface provides thirteen 100 mm motorised touch-sensitive faders, dedicated EQ, pan and gain knobs, and an 800×480 colour screen.
At the heart of the system is REAC (Roland Ethernet Audio Communication), carrying 40×40 channels of 24-bit audio over a single Cat5e cable in place of analogue multicore. The console has two REAC ports and pairs with the S-4000S, S-1608 and S-0816 stage units and the M-48 personal monitor mixer. Built-in stereo USB recording/playback and 300 stored scenes round out the package.
