History & design
The Élan is an analog in-line console designed by US manufacturer Neotek in the late 1980s. Offered from 8 to 28 channels, it targets project studios and smaller artist-oriented rooms without compromising on audio quality.
Every channel is built around Neotek's in-house discrete mic preamps, reputed to be more musical than a single-chip solution, and a 4-band parametric EQ with sweepable frequencies. The console offers 1 stereo aux send and 4 mono sends, 24 buses, plus 3 mute groups with solo in place. Automation was optionally available in three forms: VCA, Audiomate motorized faders or MIDI-controlled mutes, making it compatible with the era's hybrid analog/digital workflows.
