History & design
The Midas PRO2 is a live digital mixing console introduced around 2010, the compact version of Midas' PRO Series (below the PRO3/PRO6/PRO9 and the XL8). It processes 64 input channels and provides 27 mix buses that are time-aligned and phase-coherent: 16 configurable buses (mixes, subgroups or mix-minus), 8 matrix buses, plus the master buses.
Thanks to the AES50 audio network (Klark Teknik SuperMAC technology), the PRO2 can dynamically assign up to roughly 156 inputs and 164 outputs at 96 kHz. Advanced navigation gives access to MCA (Master Control Association) groups, the equivalent of VCAs but tied to the selected bus. The PRO2C variant builds 8 Midas mic preamps into the surface for even more self-contained use.
The PRO2 carries over the preamps and sonic philosophy that made Midas analogue consoles famous, on a rugged digital touring platform sharing the PRO Series software and hardware ecosystem.
