Our take
History & design
The iLive-T80 is the most compact fixed-format surface in Allen & Heath's iLive range, launched in 2008 alongside the T112. It uses the same surface-plus-MixRack architecture: audio processing (64 channels, 32 configurable mix buses and 8 stereo FX processors) is handled by a remote iDR-series MixRack via the RackExtra 64×32 DSP. The T80 surface provides 20 motorised faders across four layers (control of up to 80 channels), a dedicated processing strip and a touchscreen; its local I/O includes 4 TRS in/out, 2 RCA pairs and one S/PDIF. The link to the MixRack uses the proprietary ACE protocol over a single Cat5. The range accepts optional network cards (MADI, EtherSound, Dante, Aviom).
