History & design
The Tascam DM-24 is a compact digital mixing console for the project studio and post-production, launched in 2001. It processes 32 channels to 8 buses, with 16 analogue mic/line inputs at 24-bit/96 kHz and a rich digital I/O set: 24 channels TDIF, 8 channels ADAT optical, AES-EBU and S/PDIF. The surface carries 16 long-throw motorised faders across three layers, plus a master fader.
Every channel has a 4-band parametric EQ and a compressor switchable pre/post-EQ; the first 16 channels add a gate/expander, and a delay line is available. Two stereo effect processors embed TC Works reverbs (99 programs) and Antares microphone/speaker modelling (83 mics, 10 speakers), plus 127 general effects. Automation handles up to 64,000 events at quarter-frame accuracy, and the console stores scenes. 5.1 surround mixing is obtained by assigning the eight buses. Two interface-card slots (ADAT, AES-EBU, analogue, cascade) allow expansion and cascading.
