History & design
The Vista X is Studer's flagship, unveiled at IBC 2014. It introduced the Infinity Core engine, built on general-purpose (CPU) processors, able to process more than 800 DSP channels on a single board — a first at the time — and to handle more than 5,000 inputs/outputs via twelve high-capacity A-Link fibre interfaces.
The console keeps Studer's signatures: the Vistonics interface (colour touchscreens built into the meter bridge, with rotary controls 'inside' the screen), FaderGlow (backlit faders whose colour indicates their function) and VistaMix, an automatic mic-mixing system prized in TV studios and talk shows. Quad Star technology provides deep redundancy of the processing core.
For connectivity, the Vista X adds Dante and AES67 interfacing (D23m card) alongside MADI and the modular I/O of the D21m range. Two Lexicon PCM96 reverb/effects processors are built in. Aimed mainly at broadcast (TV studios, large OB vans), it targets the most demanding productions in channel count and reliability.
