History & design
The OnAir 500 is the entry-level radio console of Studer's OnAir family, designed for self-op work in smaller stations and mobile use. Compact, it carries six assignable 100 mm long-throw faders, calibrated at 0 dB at the top like an analog desk, each channel offering ON, OFF, CUE, SELECT and INPUT 2 keys. The main PROG and AUD busses structure routing, and the master faders can be bypassed from the setup menu to fix outputs at unity gain.
The OnAir 500 Modulo version pushes modularity further: it comprises one or two fader modules, a master module, a meter bridge and a 19-inch electronics rack, for a 6- or 12-fader desk depending on configuration. This split surface/electronics format suits cramped studios as well as OB vehicles. The whole design aims at simple live operation, with an analog-like feel and a small footprint.
