History & design
The Soundcraft Vi2 is the most compact console of the first-generation Vi range (alongside the Vi4 and Vi6). It uses the same digital engine and Vistonics II interface as its bigger siblings — rotary encoders and switches embedded directly around the touchscreen — plus the FaderGlow system that illuminates fader rails according to their function (channels, buses, VCAs, GEQ...).
The surface has just 8 input faders, switchable across 3 fixed layers and via the meter screens to reach all channels, plus a master section. Processing runs on a 40-bit floating-point DSP at 48 kHz, with 4-band EQ and high-/low-pass filters on inputs and buses, and up to 32 30-band graphic EQs available by paging. The Local Rack and stagebox typically handle 64 mic/line inputs into 35 configurable buses.
The Vi2's show files are fully compatible with the Vi4 and Vi6 and with the Virtual Vi offline editing software. The console targets side-stage monitors, corporate events, transportable backup and training.
