History & design
The Slate Raven MTX is a multi-touch control surface for the digital audio workstation, launched in 2013 by Slate Media Technology (Slate Pro Audio). It is built around a 46-inch touchscreen at 1920×1080, angled at 45° and recognising twelve touch points.
The RAVEN software shows a mixer where you manipulate the DAW's faders and parameters directly by touch, moving several faders at once. The Batch Commands function chains a series of commands or shortcuts into a single tap (notably in Pro Tools and Logic). RAVEN 3.0 software offers near-universal compatibility with major DAWs.
An optional SLATE CONTROL section adds an analogue monitor controller (DB25 for I/O, DB9 for VU and talkback, multiple speaker, headphone and cue outputs, USB). The front shelf holds Batch Command pads, a wireless keyboard and trackball, USB ports and headphone outputs. Its footprint is comparable to an API 1608 or an SSL AWS.
