The DiGiCo SD8 is a digital mixing console introduced in 2009, sitting below the SD7 in the British manufacturer's SD range. It inherits the flagship's Stealth Digital Processing engine and floating-point Super FPGA architecture, applied to 120 input channels, 48 aux/sub-group busses, a 16 × 16 matrix and an LR/LCR/LCRS/5.1 master buss, all with full processing (DiGiTube, 4-band parametric and dynamic EQ, dual dynamics, two insert points per channel).
The standard surface carries 37 touch-sensitive 100 mm motorised faders in three banks of twelve plus a master fader, under a single 15-inch LCD touchscreen; a compact SD8-24 version reduces this to 24 faders. Assignable layers let any bank show input or output channels. Local I/O includes eight XLR mic/line inputs, eight line outputs, AES/EBU I/O, two redundant MADI BNC ports and an optional multimode Optocore interface; expansion runs through DiGiCo stageboxes (SD-Rack, D-Rack) and an optional Waves SoundGrid card.
The SD8 ships with dual redundant power supplies and can be mirrored with a second SD8 for surface redundancy. It is also controlled through offline software and an iPad app.
