The Axia Element is a modular IP radio console introduced in 2005 by Axia Audio (Telos Alliance). It is built on Livewire, the Audio-over-IP protocol invented by Telos in 2003.
Its founding trait: no audio passes through the surface itself. All mixing and processing are handled by an external engine — StudioEngine or PowerStation — with the console connecting to the Axia network over a single cable. The surface is made of four-fader modules, complemented by monitor and control modules and, optionally, a Telos phone module allowing line switching directly from the console.
The Element automatically generates a mix-minus for every phone caller or remote codec source. Its build emphasises durability: conductive-plastic side-loading faders and aircraft-grade LED-lit switches. Livewire carries uncompressed 48 kHz / 24-bit audio at roughly 0.75 ms latency; the Livewire+ evolution is AES67-compatible. The Element is now listed in Telos Alliance's 'legacy' catalogue.
