History & design
Released in the mid-2000s, the SSL C200 (offered in an HD version) is a digital production console built around SSL's Centuri processing core. Housed in a 15U frame, the Centuri delivers up to 512 inputs/outputs and 60 GPI, with fibre-connected remote stageboxes; the HD version extends routing to more than 5600 I/O through hot-swappable modular cards (mic, line, AES, SDI).
The surface keeps SSL's in-line logic with a dual fader per strip (large and small) and up to 256 faders. Each strip offers a 4-band parametric EQ, high/low-pass filters, independent compressor/limiter and gate/expander, plus DSP emulations. The system handles 12 main buses (stereo or 5.1 sub-groups), 48 multitrack buses, 12 aux and 12 stereo FX returns, at 24-bit and 48 or 96 kHz. On the broadcast side, the C200 HD adds tri-level sync, Status Lock, Backstop PFL and self-healing DSP, with redundancy and hot-swap.
