History & design
The Soundcraft Si2 is the compact partner to the Si3 within the Si series (2008). It offers 48 mic/line inputs driven by 24 motorised input faders (the Si3 has 64 on 32) but shares everything else: 4 stereo line inputs, 4 Lexicon returns, 8 insert points, 24 Group/Aux buses, 8 matrices, 12 VCA and 8 mute groups.
The surface is built around the Virtual Channel Strip (encoders reconstructing an analogue strip), a central touchscreen and FaderGlow signalling. Processing combines Lexicon effects, BSS graphic EQ and dbx dynamics. Rear panels are modular (three channel-section modules versus four on the Si3), with MIDI, a HiQnet connector and D21m slots (MADI, ADAT, CobraNet, EtherSound, AES/EBU). 48 kHz processing.
