Our take
History & design
The Soundcraft Si1 is the most compact of the Si series (2008), descended from the Spirit Digital 328/324 topology. It offers 32 mic/line inputs on XLR driven by 16 motorised faders, plus 4 stereo line inputs and 4 Lexicon FX returns: at least 48 sources to mix from the onboard I/O. Its frame is only 1200 mm wide, aimed at theatres, small venues and houses of worship.
Like the rest of the range it is built around the Virtual Channel Strip (a row of encoders over the faders that reconstructs a full analogue strip), a central touchscreen, FaderGlow signalling, four Lexicon effects, BSS graphic EQ and dbx dynamics. Rear panels are modular and the D21m expansion slots accept MADI, ADAT, CobraNet, EtherSound and AES/EBU cards. Analogue modules add extra preamps. 48 kHz processing.
