Our take
History & design
The Solidyne D612 is a compact 8-channel digital console for radio, designed for both on-air and production. It combines 4 mic inputs (48 V phantom), 2 balanced line inputs, a USB digital line and 2 telephone hybrids — one for the switched network, the other for a cellular phone over Bluetooth, with conference mode.
Each mic gets a 4-band voice-optimised EQ and a compressor. Outputs include two analog stereo buses (PGM and REC) and a USB digital output (the console appears as a sound card to the PC, for streaming or recording). Monitoring is comprehensive, with separate speaker and headphone outputs for studio and control, muting logic and an on-air light output. The 100 mm faders use a conductive-ceramic technology rated for fifteen years. An AoIP option interconnects studios over the Ethernet LAN, without running dedicated shielded audio cabling. The switching power supply accepts 90 to 240 V.
