History & design
The QSC TouchMix-16 is the larger of the two original TouchMix mixers (with the TouchMix-8), before the TouchMix-30 Pro arrived. It targets musicians and small venues that want a complete digital console in a carry-anywhere box.
It offers 20 inputs, 16 of them on Class-A mic preamps, and is driven by a 7-inch (178 mm) capacitive colour touchscreen, by its physical controls or wirelessly from an iPad. Each channel has a four-band parametric EQ with high- and low-pass filters, a noise gate and a compressor; the engine adds reverb, echo, delay and chorus. Processing uses a 32-bit floating-point architecture and 24-bit converters.
The console records multitrack to an external USB hard drive at sampling rates up to 48 kHz, which also makes it a light live-recording tool.
