Sony
Sony Corporation, founded in 1946 in Japan, long operated a major Professional Audio division. After acquiring MCI (c. 1982) and developing the DASH digital recording format (PCM-3324, then PCM-3348), Sony formed a partnership in 1993 with the British firm Oxford Digital, creating the Sony Oxford entity whose flagship product was the OXF-R3.
