Our take
History & design
The Rivage PM3 is a digital mixing system introduced by Yamaha in 2020, the entry point of the Rivage PM family. It pairs a CS-R3 control surface (38 faders 12+12+12+2, one main touchscreen, 24 user-defined keys, 8 in and 8 out local I/O) with a separate DSP engine: the DSP-RX (120 inputs, 48 mix buses, 24 matrices) or the DSP-RX-EX (288 inputs, 72 mix buses, 36 matrices), at 96 kHz.
The system relies on the proprietary TWINLANe optical network (up to 400 channels) and on Dante, with RPio-series stageboxes. It shares the modeled preamps, effects and plug-ins (including Rupert Neve Designs emulations) of the whole Rivage PM range.
